What is I Spack I Act I Impact Competition?

2025 Orator and Illustrator Competition

Every year, we witness the power of unity among humanity—a single species with a shared purpose: the protection of freedom, security, and our natural world.

In 2025, the World Organization for Sustainability Leadership proudly presents the United Nations SDG-Junior Ambassador Competition, centered around Goal #15: Life On Land. This extraordinary event empowers student artists and orators to embody this mission of preservation.

Topic Focus: SDG #15 Life On Land

"Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss”

  • Terrestrial ecosystems are crucial for human survival as they offer a wide range of benefits, providing essential resources such as raw materials, energy, and food. These ecosystems not only contribute to over half of global GDP but also hold diverse cultural, spiritual, and economic significance. Terrestrial ecosystems deliver essential services, such as carbon sequestration and regulation of water flow, that help mitigate natural disasters like floods and landslides, regulate the climate, and sustain agricultural productivity.
  • Forests cover nearly 31% of the Earth's surface and are home to over 80% of all land-based species. The loss of forests means the loss of habitats for these species and contributes to species extinction. The loss of forests also leads to increased carbon emissions, reduced biodiversity, and further land degradation, which exacerbates climate change.
  • Currently, one-fifth of the Earth's land is degraded. Accroding to UN website “Between 2015 and 2019, at least 100 million hectares of healthy and productive land were degraded every year, impacting the lives of 1.3 billion people.” So far, the world had made some modest imporvement and progeess in sustainable forest management.
  • Goal 15 - “Life on Land” focuses on protecting and restoring terrestrial ecosystems. It includes ensuring sustainable forest management, combating desertification, and halting and reversing land degradation while preventing biodiversity loss. Global and regional initiatives to preserve forest ecosystems and their social, economic, and environmental roles are crucial, particularly for developing nations and tropical regions.

YOU are the future and within YOU lie the answers!

Your participation in the 2025 United Nations SDG-Junior Ambassador for #15 Life On Land Orator and Illustrator Competition is a stride toward transformation. It is a testament to your commitment to shaping a world where the oceans flourish, communities thrive, and a legacy of stewardship endures.

As you step onto this platform of creativity and advocacy, remember that each stroke of a brush and every word uttered holds the potential to reverberate beyond the competition's confines. You possess the innate power to inspire, awaken, and stir change. By lending your voice and vision, you become a harbinger of hope, breathing life into a future where the oceans' song continues to enchant and sustain us all.”

How do I participate ?

You can participate in the competition as either an Orator or Illustrator. Orators will develop a short and concise video of themselves discussing anything relevant to the topic focus of the year. Likewise, illustrators will create a unique and original artwork (hand drawn) relating to topic focus of the year.

There are no right or wrong answers and thus content (oratory or illustration) will be judged on originality, creativity, applicability and presentation. It is imperative to gather the power of young people around the world to promote world peace and prosperity.

Examples might include;
•. How one envisions achieving the goal
•. What transformations need to occur in ones local community, city, or government in order for this goal to be realized
•. How does the absence of this goal affect relationships within society at various income levels?
